This is a very suggestive piece. The color tone seems to fit the subject matter and the emotions expressed in a very harmonious way. Even though obviously depicting death, or a state analogous to it the picture is not sad. The use of a golden sunset gives the impression of grandeur - it's a glorious death rather than a tragedy. The symbolism of a sunset is also spot on, as the sun goes down so does the girl's life. There is a very strong sense of approaching rebirth here - just as the sun will rise in the morning, so will the girl. It's interesting that the crow keeps at bay, suggesting that this is not the end of the story.

Another thing that catches the viewer's attention is the composition of the picture. The "draw distance" (excuse the computer graphics term) is long enough to give the image the required depth. Anything less would be not enough.

The thing that I like the most about this picture is the model's expression and outfit. It was a very good decision on the photographer's side to hide the model's feet. If visible they could easily break the balance of the foreground. This is a very good piece of work. Even if not the most original of ideas, the execution is superb.
